Potty Time!!
Yesterday we finally got Noelle a little Baby Bjorn Potty. Why would I need a baby potty for a four month old baby you may be wondering? As we are able (which hasn’t been very often) we are working on getting her familiar with the process of using a potty as well as her diapers. When I have worked with her even semi consistently for a couple of days it is amazing how fast she picks up on it. Up until now we have simply been holding her over the big toilet…Which in proportion to her size seems very big indeed!
Today I started out by just sitting her on it after she ate. It was amazing. She LOVES it.
With zero effort on my part she used it to tinkle in twice. She loves her books and I have a couple set aside especially for her “Potty” time to help keep her entertained. If it were up to her she would sit there 30 minutes at a time. Please ignore the background disaster area in these pictures. We are basically doing a complete overhaul of the entire house which includes moving our bed and bedroom furniture out, and a bunch of other furniture in. In conjunction with all of that I chose that opportune time to unpack a bunch of clothes that had been previously safely stowed away in plastic bins.

YAY for you!!!! Seeing your pictures makes me wish we had gotten that potty for my Noelle. I got the BB Little Potty which is quite nice but doesn’t have the backrest on it. I should try to put it on the floor now that she’s steady sitting up. I usually set it on the bathroom counter and she makes faces at herself in the mirror while I hold her torso.
Anyhow, isn’t it incredible how fast they pick it up? Now that we’re home and I’ve been consistant with it for about 2 weeks now, Noelle stays dry pretty much all day except for her nap times. Today I think we used 1 diaper. I just take her about every hour and a half and she goes and that’s that. I can’t wait to see what she does with it when she starts walking.
Oh, that’s awesome… I read about that in a Pearl book a long time ago, haha, and didn’t personally know anyone who had actually tried or done it.
That is so awesome. I wish I had the dedication to try that. I have always wondered if it worked.

I just realized right now that you and Janee’s babies have the same name. Duh.
See, your method sounds reasonable. Exposure to the potty without complete dedication to keeping a potty schedule all day long. I could do that. And then you avoid the huge fear of big toilets later on, eh?
